About that last post.

So I went to download that torrent shit - and my hard drive fucking crashed. [I don't blame any of you at all - it might have been coincidental. Who knows.*]

Long story boring:

-I had to buy a new computer.
-My car broke down and I had to pay to patch it back up.
-Got plane tickets to meet Logan's family this Christmas in South Carolina.
-And of course, I got vehicle registration stuff in the mail. $90.

I'm so broke and sad and want to go live as a hermit.

*I don't like the look of proper punctuation there

Also, that four days I just spent in the hospital - the bill came to $32,000. They literally took some blood tests, gave me an MRI, and some antibiotics. [I refused Crohn's medication - which would have hiked up the price like a bitch.]

Thank God for my dad's insurance. I'm terrified of getting older and not having my own. HERMIT.

all is full of love [12 Nov 2009|04:33pm]

*FANGIRLS ALL OVER THE KOOZA CAST*

This is so happy-go-lucky and whimsical and I want a huge red clown nose to wear around the streets of Santa Monica toooo! Also, I love everything about the Phoenix's costume.

& a frenzy of music searching has begun as I try to find the perfect song for my contortion solo. If anyone has any song they've heard recently that has just completely blown you away, go ahead and rec it. I'd really appreciate it!

November 12th, 2009: It's not quite definitely not planning any crimes ever! #seriouslyyouguys, but Rodney Bradford's Facebook status update of "Where's my pancakes" successfully acted as an alibi against a charge of robbery! Awesome, Rodney Bradford! He wasn't out robbing people because he was at home wondering where his pancakes were.

But as that article goes on, it slides deep into "oh man OLD PEOPLE STEREOTYPES" territory. Joseph Pollini, who otherwise sounds awesome because he lists "hostage negotiation" as his primary area of expertise, says that teenage HACKERS could have posted that pancake-centric Facebook update to Rodney's profile while posing as Rodney at his home computer, while Rodney was actually out busy robbing at the time - which, you know, is possible? But it's not very likely, and it takes some knowledge. No problem, says Joseph! Teenagers are really good at internet, because "they use it all the time". "They [teenagers!] could develop an alibi. They watch television, the movies, there is a multitude of reasons why someone of that age would have the knowledge to do a crime like that."

Is it the "the" he puts in front of "movies" that is so terrible? Is it that he believes you can get better at computers in real life by watching an actor on TV sit down in front of a monitor, a monitor so bright it projects legible text onto his face, cracking his knuckles before saying "Let's get cyber" - is that what's so terrible? Perhaps he believes that all digital photographs can be enhanced to reveal any face via the "ENHANCE" button that true hackers have access to, and that when such a hacker is faced with a screen full of the words "ACCESS DENIED" in a blinking red font while a siren goes off and laughing skulls spin in the background, they need only hit the "OVERRIDE" button.

Anyway! Where's my pancakes

UPDATE: Michael let me know that the New York Times ain't so dang reliable, the update made by Rodney didn't say "Where's my pancakes", it said "ON THE PHONE WITH THIS FAT CHICK......WHERER MY IHOP."

Guys that is so much better, this story is amazing.

Very simple.

Carole King's Tapestry

I love this album like you don't even understand. This was the first album I really connected to. I feel like it connected to me. I've mentioned this time and again that my parents kept a pretty stocked record collection when I was young, and I've known how to work a record player since probably the age of 5. Anyways, Tapestry was just another record for a long time. I knew and loved the songs, but the light bulb didn't turn on until I was around 8 or 9, when my parents were going through a divorce. It was honestly a fucked up time for me, and I would listen to music (even more than I usually did/still do) to help me get through things.

When I started to listen to this...something happened. I smiled. I laughed. I cried. I still can't really explain what it is about this album that still does the same things to me today. Even at such a young age I knew that there was something special about it.

More Facebook Fail [11 Nov 2009|09:13pm]

xlickety_splitx
I wish I knew more of you guys on Facebook just so you guys could witness the fail that I encounter on a daily basis. Ugh!

Tonight's dumb conversation started up when my cousin asked a question in his status update, which was along the lines of: "If Beethoven could compose masterpieces while being deaf, could a fighter compete without the ability to see?"

My answer, of course, was yes. It wouldn't be incredibly likely that he'd be the best in the world but provided he had training and had mastered the ability to "see with his ears" (aka human sonar, ftw!), he would most definitely be able to compete. Yes? Yes?

But of course, since people started moving out of the Internet's ghetto (also known as Myspace), the place has been getting dumber and dumber. I got this gem as a reply!

Well Morgan I do agree that your other senses are heightened when you are blind, however, you cannot compare the technique of sonar to two human beings that are not on a level playing field because one is blind and cannot see..not to mention both opponents would become the aggressor! That completely changes everything..it immediately puts one at a ... disadvantage while the other uses his disability to HIS advantage...the punches, jabs, uppercuts, and footwork are extremely too fast for anyone to miss a beat! Unfortunately this blind boxer would be beaten to a pulp... :-(

NO! Blind people aren't slower than seeing people, they just can't see! That's it! They're not functionally retarded. They're not slow. They just can't see. That is all! Of course a seeing fighter would have an advantage but to assume that the blind fighter would be "beaten to a pulp" because of their lack of sight is... stupid. If anything, the other fighter's assumption that the blind fighter would be slower and less attuned to what's going on around him would probably be his downfall.

I've gone to school with blind people and guess what? They can do things that we can too! They can learn dance choreography! They can march in school marching bands! They can catch pencils that are rolling off of their desks! They can type! They can ride skateboards! They can even (get this!) live in major cities BY THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!

And of course there is more!

SOMEWHERE
Official Synopsis:
Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy A-List actor stumbling through a life of excess while living at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont Hotel. His days are a haze of drinks, girls, fast cars and fawning fans. Cocooned in this celebrity-induced artificial world, Johnny has lost all sense of his true self. Until, that is, his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) unexpectedly shows up and unwittingly begins to anchor him. Johnny’s fragile connection to real life slowly revives in her presence. So when the time comes fro Cleo to leave, his sense of loss is palpable, but the gift of hope she has also brought him leads to a beautiful, poetic denouement imbued with all of Coppola’s remarkable powers to conjure mood and atmosphere.

Final Fantasy VII [10 Nov 2009|09:38pm]

xlickety_splitx
[ music | watching SYTYCD ]

So I've been playing Final Fantasy VII obsessively on my PSP lately. I've got 30+ hours logged and I'll bet the majority of it is because running around and leveling up is damn addicting.

And in playing the game I seriously wonder if the people who ship Cloud and Aeris (like seriously ship them) are playing the same game as everyone else.

Besides, Tifa kicks more ass anyway. And don't her and Cloud fuck at the end?? I mean really, do we need more evidence than that?

I watched it this morning but I feel compelled to post it here because it's fucking amazing. You go, Gaga! If I did drugs I would ask you if I could snort coke off of your back. Thank you Natalie for forcing me to listen to The Fame last year. One of the best musical decisions ever made!

And, uh, goodbye Britney.
